What is GNM Nursing?
General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) is a 3½-year diploma programme recognised by the Gujarat Nursing Council (GNC) that prepares students to become skilled, compassionate bedside nurses. It is one of the most widely pursued nursing qualifications in India, offering quick entry into the healthcare profession.
At J & D Institute of Nursing, GNM students receive comprehensive theoretical education combined with extensive hands-on clinical training at our attached multi-specialty hospital. The programme covers all major areas of nursing — medical, surgical, obstetric, paediatric, psychiatric, and community health.
Graduates are eligible for registration with the Gujarat Nursing Council and can work in government and private hospitals across India. The GNM diploma also serves as a strong foundation for those who wish to pursue the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree in the future.

Who Can Apply
Eligibility Criteria
To secure admission to the GNM programme, candidates must meet the following requirements.
Educational Qualification
Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) or Arts/Commerce. Minimum 40% aggregate marks (35% for reserved categories).
English Requirement
English must have been studied as a subject at 10+2 level. Medium of instruction at the institute is English.
Age Criteria
Minimum 17 years of age as on 31st December of the admission year. No upper age limit for general category candidates.
Medical Fitness
Candidate must be physically and mentally fit. A Medical Fitness Certificate from a registered doctor is mandatory at admission.
Nationality
Open to Indian nationals. Domicile certificate (Gujarat preferred). NRI admissions as per INC and Gujarat government guidelines.
Entrance / Selection
Merit-based selection or institute entrance test as applicable under Gujarat state regulations for the session year.
